BPH Symptom Score Index

The IPSS (International Prostate Symptom Score) index is the most common symptom score index used by physicians to quantify the subjective symptoms associated with BPH. Specific symptoms are graded and a total score is calculated reflecting the severity of the symptoms. Treatment decisions are based on this score. To correctly diagnose BPH, you need to consult your physician.

The IPSS scores are classified as follows:

  • Mild (0 to 7)
  • Moderate (8 to 19)
  • Severe (20 to 35).

In general, moderate to severe symptoms will require treatment. Make sure to evaluate your symptoms together with your physician.
